Oh no – now I am a “knock off salesman” I can feel the flood waters coming down on me!

22 Sep
eMail I got shortly after blasting out the Rotary Special:
Really? You’re selling cheap knock-off machines?! I’m disappointed.
Please remove me from your distribution lists. Thanks for the book though. It was insightful for when I was starting out.
(I will not post the guy’s email address who sent this to me – but you can see my response below)
======================
Yes they are cheap machines -
not knock offs though -
And Cheap because the price is low -
They are actually pretty damn good -
and if you notice that I am selling them for very low price -
I am not getting rich off this stuff at all.
I got a few of these rotary machines -
all the guys at the shop played w/ them -
all the guys LOVE them -
and I am not talking about “like” they seriously love them…
which is why I decided to get a few hundred and give them away this cheap -
I want the feed back…
perhaps I can improve on these designs….
They are JUST as good as the $500 machines.
Just FYI
I also sell hand made coil machines -
for $150 – $700 a piece
But I wouldn’t advertise that to the people who purchased my intro to tattooing books – as it is not the same clientele
Tattoo artists who are just starting out don’t have $500 for a machine…
you can see the attached photos…
these were done w/ “cheap” knock off machines -
Beware of the “verbal hype” you hear behind these faddish machines – that are over priced and made in the same factory as the cheap ones.
I am glad you liked my book -
I hope you understand that my goal is to HELP out the lower end tattoo artists and those apprentices who are “breaking into the industry”.
I would love to see your shop’s website – or your portfolio sometime.
: )
Best of luck to you -
and I encourage you to try out these machines…
My goal is to be accessible to the people who buy things from me -
and answer everyone’s newbie questions – and try to be positive and help out
because I remember what it was like trying to get into the tattoo industry.

Art Fusion at the studio

Art Fusion drawings by Top Rocker Tattoo Artists

Art Fusion drawings by Top Rocker Tattoo Artists

Some more art fusion today w/ Cecilia and Joe.. a few images of some from Joe and Christine and I as well.. Working with charcoal.. getting a little better each time. We each draw for 5 mins then swap – so about 20 mins per person on each piece is the end result. This type of drawing helps us with our tattoo drawing skills.

CR Jordan at Top Rocker Tattoo Art Fusion Drawings

Our attempt at Art Fusion (first time)

Was slow at the tattoo studio yesterday so we (Joe, Kris, and I) decided to try our hand at Fusion drawing. I think we had an “interesting” time. We Each drew for 5 minutes on each piece then rotated 4 times. So each piece was worked on a total of 20 minutes by each artist. We used Charcoal on newsprint.

Tattoo by Paul J.

Hi Charles,
I don’t mind at all if you want to use some pictures for your website, feel free to use any you want. I will def post some feedback as your book has really helped me understand my machines more and tune them to suit my own style. I will also take a look at your machines as I am currently searching for the Holy Grail of ”Guns”. It is very true what you state in your book about Tattoo artists taking offense with the term Tattoo Gun, I am currently having great fun watching artists reactions when I say it.

Thanks for the feedback.

Kind regards Paul

Color Tattoo – Lotus

09 Sep

Here are some photos of a tattoo – it is almost a 1/2 sleeve – featuring 2 lotus plants and a tiger lilly on a female’s arm. The color took very good on this one. Done with a 15 curved mag from Spearman, Starbrite pigments, Pulse power supply.

It is going to be a full sleeve with a Rose on the hand and two female portraits going up the arm – some gaps of skin in there right now – will have filler and blend. These photos show the first session of the flower.

I used Spearman needles, Dynamic and Starbrite pigments, and SOFIA & Co. Tattoo machines

Wood Cut

04 Sep

Here is a 20″ x 20″ wood cut I have been working on…

It is a portrait of a woman from the 1920s I just found randomly. It is important as a tattoo artist to try to expand to new mediums – this is the 2nd wood cut I have done.
